OK. Not a Champion because of the visible rear fender nameplate below the sail panel. But why not a President State model? Both Commander and President models had their respective nameplates in this position. zorglub is correct in his ID of Commander Regal, but can anyone tell me why? The President is pillared? Or because we all know that the only exterior difference between Commander Regal coupes/hardtops and President State coupes/hardtops is the hood ornament, rear fender nameplates and trunklid nameplates and that er, makes, hum, here, all the er, difference. -- Last edit: 2016-01-06 20:19:19 |

You are correct about the nameplates and hood ornament (it was gold-tipped on the Presidents, but that is not visible here). All three series came as both coupes and hardtops in the Regal/State trim line. One more detail shows Commander here but not President. |

Solution: The President carried front fender top ornaments as standard. They were optional on Commanders. Since the subject car is lacking them..... (Thanks for the link, DidierF. I posted my comments there over 5 years ago before I learned about the fender ornaments being standard.) |
