Did they use only S-Class Mercedes as ambulances? If not(or even if so), what other models were used?
And I'm not asking about trucks, but if you have any info on that, that's okay.

conversion by Binz of Lorch,germany..product is identified as "Mercedes "Binz" Benz Ambulance"..in this case built on a stretched "Fintail" 4 door saloon,,they also converted Ponton in the 1950s..the 230 series in the 1970s ;the 260 series in the 1980s/90s..they also convert the Unimog into Ambulances..Binz also convert identical models to funeral hearses..and in rare cases, regular estate (station wagon) and panel delivery van versions..but today they usually focus on ambulance conversions,as most manufacturers, including Mercedes, now market their own purpose built vans and estates (station wagon).

1966 200 D or 230 [W110] (indicators under the headlights), rather Binz than Miesen.

@Ddey65: In the sixties most ambulances of this size were based on Mercedes or VW Typ 2, bigger ones on Opel Blitz. But W110 corresponds less to today's S-Class than rather E-Class, which is still the most popular base for ambulance vehicles in Germany.
