 • All G506 had a 1½-ton ton-rating, so it's a redundant information;
• Cargo (without truck) should be enough for the complement. But if the G7107 model code is used as name, then it's also a redundant complement;
• What makes it for sure a 1942+ model? Couldn't it be also a 1940-42 G4100 (more precisely a G4112 or G4174) ?

Unless having clues for a 1942+ model, it would certainly be "safer" to keep it as "just 1940+ G506".

 It can't be a G-7107 if a 1940 model, and if a G-7107 then it's automatically a Cargo. One of the two latter mentioned shouldn't be used :)
The generic category in the IMCDb is for now Chevrolet G504 [G-504]. That's an ID that should be fixed, but as usual, as long as all can be found together, discussions are open to find a better identification. Maybe just Chevrolet G-504, as all models, including the one with model code used as name are found with this?

 eLMeR, I have no idea what this is, I'm just putting what I'm told and right now I'm very confused. I've reverted it back to "Chevrolet unknown" until I get a better idea of what exactly to put down.

 What about:
1940 Chevrolet G506 [G-506]
as there are already some identified that way in the IMCDb? With 1940 as default year, G506 being the generic name of this truck line and [G-506] to connect them to the similar models with a G7xxx ID.

In fact, we should not use the G-4112 or G-7107 as name, as they are internal model code from Chevrolet like 3106 or C1405 are. All literature about these trucks identify them first as G-504, with the G-4xxx and G-7xxx as sub-models. It could be one of the next post in the Mass change model info thread in the forum :)

Hence the model year range I use since I found this source: 1940-42 G-4100 Series / 1942-45 G-7100 Series. But for now I don't know how to tell a model over another so I'm sure to make no mistake by using only the generic G-504 model code...

TrucksPlanet model year ranges are sometimes a bit broad. But I found this excerpt of The observer's fighting vehicles directory, World War 2 (Bart H. Vanderveen, 1972) in GglBook, which confirms the model years given by TrucksPlanet:
