eLMeR ◊ 2015-08-19 03:53	1962-78. I don't know the clues that could help to be more precise... Foreground: if I'm not mistaken, the stake is a 1973-79 Ford F-Series, with a 1973-77/78 front face (but 1967-72 hood side emblem???). Long wheelbase (161"/4.09 m?) and dual rear wheels indicate a F-350 model, all the more as it appears that it was the only possibility for the stakes and the platforms. -- Last edit: 2015-08-19 03:54:24
night cub ◊ 2015-08-19 10:44	Elmer - Things to look for on a Loadstar: - Turn signals on top of fenders. Early models had round ones. From what I can find, it looks like they switched them to square, amber lights sometime in 1967. I've seen both used on trucks marked that year. (probably changed to meet the new sidemarker standards for 1968 MY) - Parking lights under the headlights. Up until late 1969-1970 MY (according to a Loadstar fan on a IH forum), there were clear rectangular lights under the headlights. After that, the space was blank. - Grills/Hoods - A gray grill, like this one was standard with a butterfly hood (opens on both sides). Starting in 1972. a one-piece fiberglass front end was optional. The grill grates were wider, and made up of horizontal bars. There was a pull handle in place of the IH emblem on top of the grill. - Side badges - There was a badge change from script to block lettering, sometime in the early 1970s. I haven't pinned that one down yet. night cub ◊ 2015-08-21 01:34	Elmer - I did say "Starting in 1972, a one-piece fiberglass front end was optional", so not sure what you are correcting. There was a new grill for the conventional models for 1976-78, with 4 columns instead of the previous 3.
