You cannot expect this. There are some classic car-owners, who always want to keep their precioses for their own. noone shall look for it. Sounds strange, but in the last 19 years, since I'm busy with car, mainly old cars, I've heard and seen so many strange things and people...

And not to forget: around the world are some real big classic car collections, really museums (and with better stuff than big, well known car-museums), owned by private persons, which aren't open for the public. Sometimes even the own familiy doesn't know anything about it.

Just a tiny example: since 1991 I'm always on this event in the far Northwest of Germany: http://oldtimermarkt-bockhorn.com/index.php?id=14&page=1 just bcause of the nice atmosphere and the many friends, I'll meet there.

Every year you can see there a guy, who looks like a real hobo (clothes, behaviour, even how he speaks. Incredible. His companion, a brother or so, is not better). You shouldn't trust the view - he owns a real private car-museum, several cars, even premium pre-war-vehicles, everything perfectly restored, in a big, clean, new renovated showroom - but he never allowes anyone to visit it. Once a friend of my club was there. It was a big exception. He was totally astonished, what he has seen.

And that's not all. This shabby guy also owns four big barns from a former cattle-farm - totally filled up with many racks and boxes of all kind of NOS-spare-parts for dozens of brands, several complete stocks of old garages and dealers. Pre-war-stuff, truck-parts, tractor-parts, everything. Four big barns, filled up to the roof. :wow: And nearly noone knows it.

This is perhaps one of the best-known examples: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cit%C3%A9_de_l%E2%80%99Automobile

There's also a possibility that the car was repained or re-customized shortly after the movie and sold to someone who didn't know the car's history...in which case, it may still be around, but owned by someone who has no idea it was ever used in a film.
