It just doesn't seem right not using a converted T-34 ;)

yes

if you look at it in video it doesn't seem as slow and clumsy as you might think

but AFAIK the engine is not quite original , they put it the more powerful engine version from the Tiger 2 (King Tiger)

That's because they managed to destroy the original engine trying to get it running 😬.

well the germans themselves had trouble with it when they were brand new, supposedly most Tigers were lost due to mechanical breakdown or running out of fuel than enemy ground fire...

Yep, excellent armour and firepower, but the technology wasn't available to make a strong enough engine and transmission.

Despite the fact the Bovingdon Tiger is a very early one it is very authentic for late in the war when all sorts of early Tigers and Panthers were pulled out if training units for combat. Here is one of Germany's last (early) tigers KO'd near the Brandenburg Gate

Yep Kevin Wheatcroft. His Panther is absolutely stunning, he has most of a King Tiger in parts which he plans to get Running, an S-Boot along with loads of other stuff. There is also a King Tiger in Switzerland being restored to running condition and there was talk a while back that Bovingdon wanted to get their King Tiger running too, but I doubt that will happen any time soon.

the "Tiger" in this picture and in fact throughout the whole of this incredibly stupid battle sequence is a 1960s British Army Alvis Scorpion/Scimitar/Spartan tracked chassis with a replica Tiger hull and turret, and the Tiger running gear and other details added by CGI...there is in fact no Tiger tank in this posted picture!!!
this belongs to the Bovington tank museum and is the only Tiger in working order in the world

don't believe the hype!!!!..the Tank Museum Tiger contributed very little to the movie...most of what purports to be the Tiger is in fact a replica quarter inch steel Tiger hull mounted on a 1960s British Army Scorpion/Scimitar/Spartan tank with blue screen material hiding the Alvis running gear...in post production some clever CGI effects added the Tiger running gear and other details, In the movie, the real tiger only contributed some close up/driving/turning footage....and very little else, in the final, ridiculous stand off scene between the two tanks, the Tiger is in fact the cleverly CGI'd Alvis Scimitar/scorpion/Spartan.also its not the first movie to feature a genuine Tiger tank...that goes to "Theirs Is The Glory" (1945).

Should the main image be changed to a close-up?

It is a real tiger tank and it's the only tank that can still be operate. If the tank is fake, it will be like the ones in "Saving Private Ryan". But, this tank is accurate and it's been well preserved by the tank museum in Bovington. Watch the behind the scenes of the movie and the history of the tank. the tank is a real Tiger tank and it's not made of a 1960s British Army Scorpion/Scimitar/Spartan tank with some blue screen and it's not CGI'D!

I'm afraid you're mistaken. Bovington's "131" does appear. But it's only for a few minutes. Most of the motion scenes are another replica (replica upper hull -- utilitarian suspension and track) that was CGId in post production to fully appear as "131". Then there's the burning hulk that gets holed. Is that "131" as well?

The motion replica Tiger is now in a museum in Cairns, Australia. [Image: fury_tigerdouble.jpg]
