I don't hope too much for the moped and the scooter, but what about this little British thing? |

Leyland? |

It has a Morris look, doesn't it? |

This nice British thing has been missed, it seems. |

I hesitate to go this far out on a limb, because the picture lacks any detail, but the only British thing I can see is a Ford Consul, excepting maybe a Morris Minor in the foreground. -- Last edit: 2015-11-09 09:36:35 |

I hadn't noticed the profusion of Opels and VWs, John. But… do I have to understand that you consider the little lorry un-British? |

I'm not convinced the truck is British. If it is I don't believe I have seen one similar to this before. The cab is just possibly RHD if that thing on the right side windscreen is a single wiper arm or rear view mirror but it does cross the A pillar at a strange angle. The headlights look odd also. As said before lack of any detail does not help, do we know the location? -- Last edit: 2015-11-09 12:34:58 |

It's about as British as pommes frites and mayonnaise in my opinion, but I don't think it's Belgian either. May be French or even Italian. |

It's very short - slightly clearer in /vehicle_746605-Opel-Caravan-P-1958.html where the foreground Minor is RHD and there's a 100E behind. If /vehicle_746603-Thames-10cwt-400E-1957.html is part of same footage, it seems UK location. |

Or Irish ? |

Possibly, Dublin, Ireland is also on the IMDB filming location listing. |

Yep. I thought it was only studio work that had been done in Dublin but there were maybe some supplementary shots. |

The only proposal I can think is based on a mid-1950s Morris-Commercial LD1 pickup with a locally built replacement cab. http://ccmv.aecsouthall.co.uk/p1062567003/h386B477F#h111a8f58 Wheelbase and cab size seem about right judging it with the other cars, but the height could be higher compared with the two men in the distance? I also think it could be too costly, just to replace a standard cab due to fire or accident damage, or for some other reason, so still a lot of unanswered questions. |

Perhaps it's a cut down coachbuilt van. |

... yes that could have determined the higher roofline here Also there is what looks like a strange headboard that goes well below the platform that possibly blanked off the cut down cab! |
