Anyone else think this is RHD and has a UK tax disc?? Glass's lists these 17M as available in UK from Oct 59 - 2dr P2T, 4dr P2K and Estate Car P2KO - and sold centrally through Lincoln Cars Ltd, Great Western Rd, Isleworth, Middlesex alongside Ford US and CDN offerings. UK listings continue with P3 introduction during 61 and then beyond into P7a (adding 20M) and P7b until March 72. Theoretical listing/availability is one thing, and actual sales is another, plus we've had various Taunus-in-UK discussions before. But I reckon we might at last have a genuine UK example??

I have a copy of a rhd 1961 Ford Taunus 17m p3 estate Motor road test
A 1961 Motor magazine shows four garages offering Taunus for delivery
.Also there were some used 1960 Taunus listings in 1963, even though they may be P3s
17m P2s are also listed in the A-Z of cars 1945-1979
I think I have seen rhd p2s, but that was a long time ago
So there were probably a few Rhd ones around

Which were the 4 garages? Was one Winterstoke in Bristol?? I remember them advertising P7s - probably still in Motor - at end of 60s. We have a few RHD 60s Taunuses in our collection - scattered about the globe in odd places - a couple in Africa, I think a couple in Far East, and maybe in J. There was also a bit of Taunus assembly in Taiwan (P7b) alongside their Cortinas. Would early 60s Swedish Taunuses have been RHD before they switched in 67??

The following are from Nov. 1, 1961, listed as new car distributors
Halletts of Canterbury, in Kent,
Maidenhead Autos Ltd, Bath Road., Taplow, for Buckinghamshire.
T. Sullivan Car Sales, 113 Gunnersbury Avenue, North Circular Road, W5,
Tooting Motors Ltd., 66 and 66a High Street, Kingston-upon-Thames,
Interestingly, I only found used Taunus advertised in 1963, Maybe I will check with my old books later,
and my better half thinks that my old books are useless

Previous UK RHD Taunus exchange here - /vehicle.php?id=266948 (and it would be interesting to get that unknown ID'd)

Old by now ad for UK 20M P7b - http://www.winlinton.co.uk/ford20m.htm

Forum page with brochure pic - http://www.enfostuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=839 and statement "Officially the Taunus was offered in the UK by Lincoln Cars (later known as Ford Import Export) from 1959 to 1971 (the end of the 20M)" which matches Glass's account

Please set as "built in Netherlands" & "Made for GB"

In the 50s and 60s, all Ford Taunus exported to RHD countries were converted in Amsterdam.

Was intrigued by white thing behind the 17M, but I think it's just a TR2. Old Austin 7 across the street.
