Very rare to see 3.8 without wires - may be a re-engined 2.4??

If you Google Jaguar 3.8 Mk II and look at the pictures what you see in the main is recently taken pictures of cars that have had many thousands of £s spent on them including the possible purchase and fitting of wire wheels. I was around when the 3.8 came out, ( and 13 years old) and can assure you that the proportion of the cars with wires was not as shown by Google. Most of the cars with wires were the "Special Equipment" model, or the rare Coombes cars. I don't remember if Staffs County Police's Jags were 3.4 or 3.8, but there were no wires on those!

Now agree 3.8 - twin-pipe silencer, boot badge is 3.x, and grille badge (dark red with white centre) is 3.8 only. Probably a cared-for car at the time - has AA 5 star insurance sticker in windscreen, GB plate, tow hook, and is driven carefully with no bumps or typical-for-Mk.IIs-in-1970s-film-crashes.
