Info from UK sources is full production started end 74 for Jan 75 launch as export only LHD with most/all going straight to US. RHD and UK sales were delayed until May 76.

Hmm, this might be one of those calendar year/model year things. I checked my books, one had 1975, the other had 1976. But that one also listed starting serial numbers for both 1975 and 1976 for the TR7. So I checked the Ward's Automotive Yearbook numbers, and they only listed British Leyland numbers by brand, and not model like every other manufacturer. I do have a handwritten note that there were over 7000 TR7s sold in 1975. So I'll change back. I do think the model year was 1976, but haven't found any evidence of that. Just years of that being in my head I suppose.

There is a complication which I had to check in that the first few years of TR7 assembly until 78 were at the Speke factory in Liverpool which was notorious for strikes and therefore supply breaks, so announcements/launch would not necessarily mean actual arrivals of cars in US. But as far as I can tell the major strikes were 77-78 when Speke's closure was announced, so 75-76-early77 supply should have been high.

The sales numbers show it, they are decent through 1977, then drop in 1978-79, and rise again in 1980, cars cancelled so sales drop again in 1981. Most of the coupes were 1975-77, and most of the later sales (1979-81) were for the convertible.
