I would say hatchback, too. It has only got bigger ground clearance and some 4x4 mounting parts. But is´s just FWD. |

No, because 80% of the recent SUVs should enter in that category and that will create useless discussions about each SUV. About Renault Captur concretely, it's clearly not an SUV. Hatchback is the most appropriated as we can't say it's a wagon nor a MPV. |

We could renamed the hatchback category to "hatchback and small crossovers", though that it is long. Or "hatchback/crossover", with the risk of getting a lot of SUVs in it. I would say the 2008 is also a hatchback/crossover. Same with the Opel Mokka and Ford EcoSport. |

These cars like Renault Captur are just high-clearance hatchbacks. But the higher clearance is not something that makes these cars really different from the normal hatchbacks. I don't see the point of changing/renaming the categories just for them. |

Just a visual effect for the major part. You can do that with each hatchback. That doesn't really change the base/structure of the car, so no reason to change/adapt the categories. I know that manufacturers would at each price present these hatchbacks as SUVs, crossovers, off-roaders or something. Though, the most of the time they are based on other hatchbacks from the same model line. The higher clearance (or even the 4WD) doesn't makes these cars much different - the car body type is still hatchback. |
