Ah, euh… oui, faut croire. Je lui trouvais tellement un air de Voisin… J'ai pris mes désirs pour la réalité, on dirait. |

I'd suggest Jaguar rather than SS, although I'm not sure why - possibly because an SS wouldn't been exported. 2½ litre? 3½? |

Didier, of course you would prefer a Voisin to a Jaguar of this era, the Jaguar was really little more than a pre-war Standard dressed up for a visit to the West End. Or was it? The cars apparently were tough and reliable, reasonable fun to drive, and cheaper by a lot than a Bentley or a Voisin. Perhaps the true compromise would be a Voisin, but with the sleeve-valve engine removed and the rugged Jaguar poppet valve engine put in. |

John, you are obviously much more competent on these matters than I could ever dream to be. The point is that I liked very much the body of this car — especially its peculiar rear window — which made me wish it could have been French (because I'm not only ignorant but jingoist too!). Alas, poor Didier, it was a Jaguar. Well then… (i]vive les Jaguar ![/i] |
