jettalover ◊ 2008-03-25 06:09	Because possibly the owner of the car wants to disobey state law. Once in awhile I see these European plates on Calif. cars. Usually the European plate is on the front, with the proper Calif. plate on the back of the car. Usually they put the numbers/letters of the proper Calif. plate on the fake European plate. I saw a Volvo today with this particular setup. It's a waste of time and energy because it's against Calif. state law, and since the plates are lot bigger than U.S. plates, it is really easy for a cop to notice. -- Last edit: 2008-03-25 06:11:03
58Roadmaster ◊ 2008-03-25 06:19	Thank you. Another upscale trend perhaps? Mercedes-Benz Forums says it is legal only if state or local regulations do not mandate display of front license plate. Rear plate display is required in all states. So this is illegal if this is an NC registered auto, assuming that NC is one of the states that require display of front plate. -- Last edit: 2008-03-25 08:20:45
ahight ◊ 2008-04-19 06:20	the wide euro plates are pretty common in the Audi/VW scene. I have one on my Passat. I just like it because the front seems so bare without a plate and I had holes in the front trim from being from VA where they require a front plate.
