we were trying to solve the problem somewhere on the site yet, but did not same to conclusion  My personal opinion is, that after joining the companies Daimler was just sign of trim level for Jags...

Daimler is not a model name of Jaguar but a marque in it's own right. It is the oldest British car company and was bought by William Lyons (Jaguar) in 1960. Since then the Daimler brand name was used for the top end Jaguar models. They are easily identifyable by their fluted top of the radiator grille, like in this image. The model name is either 'Six' or 'Double Six'.

there will probably always be a bit confusion..

I would prefer to use Jaguar Daimler for Jaguar LWB bodied cars..
Daimler is for sure SP250 and DS420 and the older ones.

You shouldn't trust what is written on such pages ... known to be inaccurate.

There is a bit of confusion as the during the BLMC (later British Leyland) times a subdivision was known as 'Jaguar Daimler', but this was never as brand name. That is like 'Austin Rover', 'Audi NSU' or today's 'DaimlerChrysler'.

The discussion here is more interesting than the car I think (1 headlight), that's the only reason that I do not delete this entry... ;)

Made for France due to yellow headlights.

Why is this "unknown" now? There's not enough visible to fully identify it (it's either the 3.6, 4.0 or Double Six)

I think you've answered your own question??

The operative word is "now", it didn't used to be unknown, someone's changed it.

It was listed as a 3.6 at one stage too. For most of these, they probably should be listed without model. Instead, someone seems to have gone through them adding 3.6 or 4.0 at random without giving evidence...

At the risk of being a telltale... /vehicle.php?id=2833

To avoid unnecessary bloodshed, some of those IDs were probably me - as always based on absolutely watertight logic, but I can't remember now what the detailed rationale was then. As for
G-MANN wrote The operative word is "now"

- remember "now" lies at the heart of "unkNOWn".

I'm changing it back now and that's final. :p None of the other Jags or Daimlers are listed like this.
