Well, the crash scene was done via computer effects. Even when he jumps out of the car and runs off with it visible in the background, you can tell the car is just superimposed onto the escalator background.

When he jumps off the car and in effect also the escalator, a real license plate is seen, 4LYJ562. No smog test results on www.bar.ca.gov.

I own this car, and purchased it out of the garage of Tim Allen in North Hollywood. There were two cars used in the movie, one was wrecked and is gone, the other one is the car used for the "beauty" shots. It's the one I own.
