A long time ago when I was new to imcdb I became involved with a long argument with someone from France about the Britt name, where he produced lots of brochure evidence to prove the Britt name, which it did very well. However it also showed the proper model name in F was Herald 1300 Britt (not 13/60) which he did not accept. Since then I've kept fairly quiet about 13/60s in F ......

... and the French generally - about half our 13/60 convertibles are in French films. Not quite as good as the 1976-onwards-Mini-Clubman-Estate-in-Italy phenomenon but interesting; they also liked earlier Herald and Vitesse convertibles in reasonable quantities.

This for sale ad does support Bebert http://www.gt-spirit.fr/fr/voiture1301384.html

I guess an original sales advert is worth more than a retrograde description... Shouldn't it be a Triumph Britt Convertible [13/60], therefore ?

Both Bebert's adverts on /vehicle_442651-Triumph-Herald-13-60-Convertible-1968.html start Triumph Herald, so Herald should remain part of the name - it's what come next and in what order is the problem. Given that we can find evidence for almost every permutation, perhaps after all we stick with what we've got because it works? Or just promote Britt to the end of the existing model name from extra info?

Also just as a mad question, I assume Britt is the obviously derived UK nickname? Nothing to do with Britt Ekland from a marketing campaign or other origin? Just wondered because it only seems to apply to the 13/60, not earlier Heralds or other successful-in-F Triumphs like the Vitesse or Spitfire.

As far as I know, Briit was indeed only used for the 13/60: Triumph Herald Britt. I'm not going to insist on any of the possible ways of listing these nice Brit(t)s :)
