Front lights are odd... |
◊ 2013-02-19 22:34 |
900 or 9-3, anyway? |

Saab 900 S Coupe |

Were odd... But it looks strange indeed... is it really a Saab? -- Last edit: 2013-02-20 17:56:55 |

Can you please make an enlargement just of the car on the main pic? |

For me it is a SAAB 900, but cobbled from junkyard scrap, possibly with a front or a wing that belongs to something else? -- Last edit: 2013-02-20 18:00:20 |

The butt is too short for a Saab IMHO |
◊ 2013-02-20 20:05 |
Just a guess, but could it be a Lancia or Alfa Romeo? |

Filmed in ZA, so no Gol or any other Brazilian VW. It looks a bit VW-ish somehow. Or something total different: what's about a Honda Accord Coupé or so? |

It IS a Saab 900/9-3, the front indicators have been covered, like those "generified" cars seen in adverts. |

I think it is a SAAB too, and why would someone fake this car? It is not really expensive like a Rolls Royce or the like. -- Last edit: 2013-02-21 17:24:48 |

Indeed maybe it is a car modified to be used in adverts as Exiv suggested, which was then useless once modified and used for this crash scene? What seems strange is that the shape of headlight side on the wing is really different, but the picture isn't very high quality anyway. -- Last edit: 2013-02-21 18:24:33 |

*cough* any chance for that? |

Here you go, ingo: |

What does the Saab-experts say now? Sure about it? Some details are looking indeed Saab-ish, but I still think, that the butt is too short. |
◊ 2013-02-21 20:20 |
Personally I say a scrap Saab put together to look good. And the butt looks fairly average for a Saab: /vehicle_146137-SAAB-900-1994.html |

A badly violated Saab if it is one. The nose also looks too short even with modifications, and it generally looks too lightweight. More like something Italian as Gag H suggested. |

Maybe some sort of prototype based on a Saab? |
◊ 2013-02-22 12:50 |
Not very probable, as filmed in South Africa. |
◊ 2013-02-22 18:24 |
Why can't a South African company make a prototype? The VW Citi Golf (is that correct?) is/was based on outdated specs, so why no older Saab based proto car? -- Last edit: 2013-02-22 18:51:57 |

I mean, that a Saab-prototype would be unlikely in South Africa. Or course, they may have own ones - but them from locally established brands, as VW, BMW, Mercedes, GM or Toyota. |

Definitely something based on a SAAB - no doubt about that. SAAB was never built here, but would be a good candidate for wrecking as they have no secondhand value whatsoever. BTW, this on e looks rather authentic to me; cannot really see what is bothering all - maybe I just do't know my SAABs well enough...;-) |

The headlights in the thumbnail seem different than the headlights shown in the main picture. -- Last edit: 2013-02-24 21:00:13 |

Looks like headlights from annother car, cobbled in somehow. It's seems, that they aren't fixed, too. |
