Since they probably started filming in the summer of 1990, I'm guessing that either Ford released the new models early, or made these especially for Hunter. Starts using it in Episode 7.03.
HunterMan ◊ 2013-12-01 01:14	Ford could have had a couple "promo" models for the new year early...and thought "Hunter" would be a good way to advertise them--possibly more for law enforcement than families or single people. They tried to change the "style" of "Hunter" somewhat with Season 7...new starting, new female leads after Stepfanie Kramer left, and they moved Capt. Devane and Hunter up in promotions--to work with a more elite department. So, they probably figured we need to update the cars too...out with old junkers and in with the "new". I'm sure they probably struck a deal with Ford to showcase that years model as well as the new years model with the "new" season. However, after a few episodes in, we all knew this was the last season for sure! It just wasn't the same without McCall and the old green Monaco. -- Last edit: 2013-12-01 01:16:14

Therefore, the ‘91 model was readily available when filming started for the fall 1990 TV season. At one time I owned a 1991, and I recall this from the advertisements at the time. Therefore, 1990 was a short model year and 1991 was a longer model year.
