FRW 307C was a works Imp for 65 season (with 306C - http://www.stevesphotoshop.co.uk/images/corgi_hillman_imp_rally_car_lg.jpg - and 308C - http://www.carkeys.co.uk/features/original-works-rally-imp ). Some details at http://www.imps4ever.info/racing/rallies/works/frw_307c/frw_307c.html but it did some other events - note that it was one of the few British cars which was not disqualified on 66 Monte as part of the desperate plot to make a Citroen win. AFAIK Rosemary Smith never drove 307C (on 66 Monte she drove 306C - and guess what they disqualified her - possibly for not having enough vowels in her name). 307C looks a preserved car in this footage, and I'd guess was and is 998cc though plate check sites are unhelpful. -- Last edit: 2012-11-09 12:40:07 |

The building is the former Royal Scottish Automobile Club in Blythewood Square, Glasgow, now a hotel - http://www.townhousecompany.com/blythswoodsquare/about_us/history.aspx . This was the start of the 1965 Scottish Rally where 307C was driven by Andrew Cowan/Don Barrow http://www.imps4ever.info/racing/rallies/rosemary/scottish-rally-1965.jpg - is that Cowan in the thumbs?? Cowan was later to achieve global fame for the mighty Hillman Hunter - http://www.flickr.com/photos/28773898@N04/8026718751/ . |
