Not the same car - the one that goes boom has a waist level chrome side strip, looks shorter, possibly with a different front wheel, and has different rear wing shape. So the land yacht probably survived to lurch around American streets for a bit longer.

The car was 17 years old at the time of filming. The odds are, it still has its original headlamps.

Yes, my old SAAB's headlights lasted almost 20 years before both burned out within a month apart (they were both incandescent halogen sealed beam headlights) :D

My '85 Crown Vic's headlights never burned out but I had to replace them from time to time because they would fill up with water!
Didn't prevent them from operating but it turned the reflector panels dark.

got a little bit water in the right tail light assembly but i wasn't the original one ( never had any before it had to be replaced ) on my Protegé
but i had a spider in my rear left turn signal ... don't know how it ended up there and obviously, the fact that it died there means it didn't knew how it did either....

Sounds like your version sealed beam headlights have vent breather or cracked glass pip to me :think:
