I do know this series - but I never watched it. But I've never ever seen any episodes of "Dallas" or "Denver Clan" ("Dynasty") either. In fact I never have watched TV-series that much. A few in the 80ies, but not later on. "Wickie" ("Vicky the Viking") was my favourite series when I was a small kid, "Pusteblume"/"Löwenzahn" as a real series, too. Later on I've watched quite consistently "Der Fahnder" -only the first season with Klaus Wennemann-, "SOKO 5113" (also only the first seasons), "Die 2" ("The Persuaders"), "Trio mit vier Fäusten" ("Riptide"), "Magnum", sometimes "Die Strandpiraten" ("The Beachcombers"), too. But never these "family series". I've tried to watch "Der Landarzt", because it was -still is- filmed, where my grandmother lived, but I couldn't bear that. P.S. Yes, the more I think about it, the more I'm sure, that since 1989/90 I never have watched any TV-series any more. And talkshows neither. And for sure never all that reality-doku-soap-trash-shit. @Andre Malraux: "The Persuaders were/still are vey popular in Germany, because the dubbing is absolut great. The English speaking original was a disaster, not liked in the UK or the USA. It's the truth, that the original series was given to Rainer Brandt, the most popular specialist for dubbing TV-series with the words "This is absolute trash, a total flop. Make with it, what you want. Make any kind of dubbing you want." And he made it well It became popular in France, too, because the dubbed the German dubbing, not the English original. |

I see, I din't watch this sopas and "family" shows that much eithe, I am more fan of those 80s action shows such as Street Hawk , The Fall Guy (Ein Colt Fur alle Falle) , Hardcastle and McComik , The Dukes of Hazzard (just love the Geenral Lee charger and sexy Dazy Duke), Captain power and the Soldiers of the Future, Sliders (early seasons) and stuff like that but of course today they simply cannot afford to produce such shows again in the US , they only have stupid and "cheap" CSI and its clones , Law and Order etc because they only have to pay the actors and sets are almost the same all the time -- Last edit: 2012-08-09 20:41:29 |

and stuff like MacGyver , TJ Hooker, Sledge Hammer (real awesome spoof ) and so on TV shows then simply had great them songs and they were quite long at over 2 min often , today they berally last 30 seconds and usually it was about saving people not like today about prosecuting murders of death ones And often those old TV shows showed great locations where you would actualy want to be , not some cold cities or ghetos , it simply is much more depressing this days , a mainreason why I don't watch much TV and the same applies to cartoons, they were simply far far better animated , today they look cheap and horrendos by comparison its like instead of things evolving they deevolved , like the economies and society in general |

I agree with you Mike. I much prefer to watch 70s and 80s TV. Not just because the era is much more interesting to me in terms of cars and music but because TV then tried to be escapism. It was about successful people doing entertaining things rather than normal people doing realistic things. I don't mind things like Law & Order, NCIS or The Mentalist but they don't allow you to escape from a dull life as well as the 80s shows did. And Sledge Hammer! was definitely ace. The original was a disaster in the UK. The orignal English version was never aired here. No, subtitles are absolutely unpopular in Germany. All people here hate that. Over 99% of foreign productions were dubbed, except some exotic auteur movies or so. But those are only shown in the auteur-movie-corners in cultur-channels or small cineasts-cinemas. Subtitles appears more in interviews of people, who speak a dialect, which will not be understand by all other Germans, for example from Austria, Switzerland, but also from the cl82- or m.pfaffeneder-countries. From the North only the Frisian language is usually dubbed. Well, it is far away. I have to ask my brother-in-law, which German criminal series it was, which was closest to the real policeman's world (he and his wife are cops nearby Berlin). There was one quite realistic, he told me once, but I forgot the name. Derrick not, Cobra 11 neither. |
