Belongs to Bunny Lebowski (Tara Leid), the wayward teenage trophy wife of aging wheelchair-bound millionaire Jeffrey Lebowski (David Huddleston). The license plate reads "LAPIN" which is French for Rabbit.

There were 4 gear (only ´75-´78) and 5 gear manual transmissions too.

There are a number of oddities with this particular car. First the wheels are from a much earlier XJ, second the panel between the taillights is not correct and manual transmissions were only available in the US in very eary cars (1976) and the '92-'94 6 cylinder cars. This car doesnt have the restyled front and back end of the '91+ models.
This could be a grey market chopped-top import dressed up to look like a later model with the air-bag being fake, or it could be two different cars made to look alike - a very common practice in Hollywood films.

Drujon has it right - it's a massive Hollywood kludge job, probably from a series of junkers (they were going to wreck it anyway, right?). The kludge is odd enough that it is probably safe to say there are no duplicates being used here. The back quarters indicate a pre-1991 car, but the trunk is from a a '91-96 - with a few earlier details cut-and-shut onto the trunklid.

There are two logical possibilities:

A. It is a pre-1991 shell that was subjected to donor parts - interior, drivetrain, and all - from one of the later 6-cylinder cars.
B. It is a crash-damaged '92-94 with bodywork (especially the rear quarters) added from an earlier car.

Why 5.3 motor version, it isn't 3.6?
