Not a Cadillac? Who's bodywork is that with the chrome accents on the front of the rear fenders? I know I've seen that treatment on a Duesenberg.

I think it is a Duesenberg. They used those Twilight headlights around 1928-30. The runningboard is solid wood with step plates. I think I saw this car last week in Los Angeles at the Classic Car Club Of America show.

The radiator design indicates this is a du Pont, around 1930-32. Only 537 du Ponts were built from around 1919 to 1932. The body would have been by a custom coachbuilder and could be from one who also built Duesenberg bodies...

This exact car can be found in Standard Catalog of American cars 1805-1942 in p502. It is a 1930 model and Model G Town Car to be precise.

It is, indeed a 1930 Model G Merrimac bodied Town Car.... Car Nr G-960.....It was sold Feb 14th, 1930 to the owner of the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, California. It had a custom specified "beverage compartment" under the l/r floor carpet and matting to carry "celebratory refreshment" during prohibition....
After several owners in the L.A. area I was lucky enough to find it in a Classic Car "wrecking yard" in Gardena,Ca for $200.00....In June of 1956. Jack B. Nethercutt, (Merle Norman) saw me in a gas station and stopped to see if I wanted to sell it. I didn't, so I gave him a price I thought would be so high that it would put an end to any talk of selling. I said 500.00 firm....He said "will cash be alright?"....After he bought it he got in way over estimates costs. He had all the parts made in house ...When he finished in 1958, it had cost over $65,000 (when the minimum wage was 75 cents per hour.)
For more info cf: "The Classic Car" (CCCA)Vol LVII Nr 3 Fall 2009 for an article on the car. This car still wins prizes at shows (Including Pebble Beach.)
It still looks great after 50+ years. Currently on display at the Nethercutt collection in San Sylmar (L.A) Calif http://www.nethercuttcollection.org

The name listing in the index page could be changed to du PONT....The DuPont was a car made earlier by others.
The Capitalization or not, is from the whole family in Wilmington De.
A member of the du Pont family has a collection of them near Palm Beach, Fl.
Thanks, Chuck Crawley

I've seen these DuPont cars close up quite a few times, back in the 90's. I used to live in DE, and theres a museum you can visit that has them on display.
