Main was shot in Glencoe, Scottish highlands in Nov 2011 on a very misty day - http://www.cultbritannia.co.uk/2012/02/13/skyfall-glencoe-shoot-pics/ , Link to "www.filmnav.co.uk" I think the view is genuine, looking West down the valley towards Loch Linnhe and the sea - if so the main A82 trunk road is off picture to the left and lower down behind cliffs for the main river gorge at a place called The Study, and the track shown is part of the old Telford military road from early 1800s - eg http://www.sabre-roads.org.uk/wiki/index.php?title=A82/Glencoe . The DB5 has BMT 216A plates, but that is Sweet Ford Anglia use for identifying the individual car ....

Looks so mysterious yet so cool...

Also, some captured footage of the DB5 being "chased" by a camera helicopter:

BMT 216A (DP216/1) has yet to be recovered - and if it were, I'd question why they'd bother to remove the rotating numberplate housing from the front bumper.

One of the Thunderball (I think it is DB5/2008/R) cars and one of the three Goldeneye cars (either DB5/1484/R or DB5/1885/R) have been in Florida on exhibit in the Dezer collection during the time period Skyfall has filmed.

Just seen a magazine feature about the DB5 as one of the most significant cars of last 50 years (so about the model, not 007). Used a photo car with BMT 216A plates, and no ejector roof outline.

In addition of that photo which seems to be a Porsche 928 (or was it that?), they used 1/3rd scale models

for the final shooting/explosion.

For the scene where they use a machine gun against the front of the car, they found a spare DB5 front, repainted in green, filmed, and put that over the real car image.

I think I have to say you're right. Apart from the ejector seat outline in the current main picture, an image that was left out of the final film if I remember correctly, it's a non-gadget one, as can be seen here:

No ejector seat roofline, no bulletproof shield.

So: not an original Gadget car, just a classic silver birch with the Goldfinger plates slapped on.

I don't agree with that. Vanquish was introduced in Q's laboratory, was shown several times in Bond's investigation on arctic palace and - what is the most important - was shown in a long chase with Jaguar where Bond used every part of its special equipment. Role of DB5 in "Skyfall" is more similar to BMW Z8 in "the World is not enough" - it's driven by Bond, used in action scene, but it has no time to show all of its capabillities.

For sure it could not be any of the original cars from Goldfinger - 1 stolen - unrevealed, 1 sold in auction for over 2 000 000 GBP remains in private hands, one on exposition.
Plate for sure was faked, Original rotary plate from is in private hands now :).

Let not bother Bond in an Aston, on his next Film. Aston Martin can driven by next Bond. Switch him off from Aston to either a Jag or New Lotus. Also including the classic Aston Martin DB5 not that either. So just put in rented cars & his actual car will be a British icon except Aston.
