Plate issued April/May 63 so could be original, and makes this a very early LC. Also no boot badge, which is correct for early LCs until mid 64 when they stopped fitting alloy boot and bonnet.

I owned this car which was the second lotus Cortina built,it was originally made for Patsy Burt and came out of Chestnut with a light blue stripe(all of her cars were of this colour scheme) I paid 600 pounds with the 65 PH reg number from Hawkhurst Service Station in Kent,I purchased the car around 1976 ,Action Cars from Harrow hired the car for this shoot with Alan Lake which was filmed in Ealing. The car was correct with a bracket axle ,alloy diff case and tailshaft and bellhousing,I sold the car in the mid 80s to Naito Engineering in Japan and the number plate was sold to Cars of Swanick, great to see the pictures again,it was a superb example

@motorman - hello and welcome. Excellent info - I had a hunch this LC was interesting. I'd come across the rumour about a single blue flash car before but never with any info apart from the comment that the owner ordered it because they believed green was unlucky, and that it was the only civilian Mk1 LC ever to emerge from the factory without the Lotus green treatment (West Sussex police had 12 all-white LCs in 1965 with plates within GBP 1C to 20C sequence, and various racers such as Alan Mann team may have had their colours applied at Cheshunt).
