Real vehicle or made for movie? It is described as an "Herkimer Battle Jitney", but all what I find on internet seem related to this movie actually... |

It looks like a truck one would expect from Batman, 5th Element or GTA2. I love how the future collides with the 30s 40s and 50s -- Last edit: 2006-07-30 17:23:28 |

Made for movie. I had some information on the chassis that was the basis of this vehicle. It was for auction on ebay a few years back. |

I think in a lot of ways it looks like one of the twelve GM Futurliners made for the Parade of Progress back in the 50s. I saw one go for millions during the Barrett Jackson car auctions last year. |

it looks like a futurliner exposed to years of genetic experiments. |

I'm interested in any additional specific information about this vehicle. I believe it was a custom one-off made by the prop department. What was the chassis it was built on? It looks a bit like a military 2 1/2 or 5 ton. Is this thing still around, and if so, where? |

Saw this while searching online for the herkimer. This is a REAL vehicle. It was developed by the US and UK during WW2, There are only five left in existence, and they are worth about $30 million. here is the link I found this info on ( Link to "blog.hemmings.com" ) I also first saw it in a book in high school, can't remember the name of the book though. |

Mikel / Modeleer - host of the HBJ facebook page here: the 'fact' that the chassis(frame) of the HBJ is a Ford COE Tractor comes directly from the son of the Company who originally build the HBJ in late 1998/1999. It was Not "located in a scrap yard" - It was rediscovered in the lot of a trucking company in late 2015 by my friends & I - by simply following leads posted online by the son of the builder & Two subsequent owners. In the Summer of 2021 I brokered the sale, arranged affordable transportation & documented its 'procurement' by the current owner (Third owner After Filming) - plans are to restore it to film condition. Everything About the HBJ (Herkimer Battle Jitney) you might want to know (& then some) can be found on facebook (6 yrs later / over 2500 members) : https://www.facebook.com/groups/1539262516391069 -- Last edit: 2022-01-13 18:44:55 |
