One thing would be worth to solve. Dacia 1100 had two types of front decoration. This one - seems indeed used since beginning, and the one more similar to this of the Renault 8: /vehicle_271362-Dacia-1100-1968.html
Now the question is wether they were used in the same time (different trim levels or something) or did one replaced another and when it was? In second case, I guess around late 1969 when prod. of the 1300 started.

This looks like a parade photo, not normal traffic. So likely to be brand new at footage date. 1971 date given for another type (so 3 to play with) at /vehicle_394132-Dacia-1100-1971.html has early Renault strip but with new shields instead of Renault lozenge, therefore this design is likely to be 1972 at earliest. Can't see anything else in this car which looks different from our other 1968s to suggest different trim levels existed (eg all have small headlights, thin steering wheel, no side chrome, same wheels, rubber bits on over-riders).

Why 1972? This badge (visible on linked pic from 1971 or 1970 - could be also older footage) Dacia used in 1300 since 1969. That's why I think the decroation change in 1.1 could be also in this year...
And it was naive a bit (from my side) :D to think they used both. Still however the exact year of change is to confirm. Not many results/pics in Google to check year by year.

I'm only using our selection of 1100s, but the likely sequence seems to be:
1] strip with Renault-ish lozenge - imcdb date 1968
2] strip with shields - imcdb date 1971 - a small expression of national identity
3] dynamic new badging, breaking free from the restrictive practices of the decadent capitalist origin as seen on this entry - any time after 1971 so 1972 at earliest.
But I haven't tried testing my theory against reality. Facts are such a nuisance sometimes.

:D This was nice analysis, but few things we already can confirm - one for sure. The decoartion we see at the main pic on this page, had to be first - in articles about Dacia 1.1 is pic of Ceausescu in one of the first cars of this type and it has at the front, this what we see above.

I guess you think, that the thing here is Renault badge -> /vehicle_271362-Dacia-1100-1968.html
I think it is not, although it indeed looks a bit strange, it can be matter of angle and it is Dacia logo. IMO they were never badged as Renault (with Renault signs).

This is footage from a 23 August 1969 parade. In earlier scenes are shown the first cars to roll out from the plant and they have the same style of badging in the front. The logo in the B.D. movie is the UAP logo (Uzina de Automobile Piteşti) which indeed looks a bit longer in height. Not much info is given in this movie, because it is a kind of mute one, a collection of recordings with no explaining words except for the speeches and the ambient sounds (sometimes not even them).

Quote - One of the most minor of the many and various crimes of Nicolae Ceausescu was that of automotive snobbery - he described the locally built Renault 8 as “just right for idiots” - from an amusing article at Link to "www.iol.co.za" .

This is the first type of badge. The strip with the shield was introduced in 1970. There was never a Renault-ish lozenge, but the third variant, the 1100S, of which a hundred were made, had quad headlights and a shiled in the middle.

In the DDR *cough*, yes the Soviet Colony..., it wasn't much different. Günter Mittag, the responsible guy for the economy has said "The Trabant is good and big enough for our citiziens" and has strictly forbidden the further development of the already existing prototypes and mock-ups.
For his personal use he had a Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9...

Adrian_pt - thanks for the explanation, so the other cars have been already corrected.
