This time the DB5's gadgets include a fax machine in the radio:

And instead of the switches (oil-slick, tyre slashers etc) in the front armrest, there is a mini-fridge for a champagne bottle, handy for winning over Bond's female travel companion ("I was just sent here to evaluate you!") after scaring the living daylights out of her during the race with Xenia's Ferrari.

They used 3 DB5s in Goldeneye. One of them; I believe it is used in the night scenes at the casino (not the interior) with the gadgets belonged to Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear. He probably sold it for a fortune as people pay silly money for Astons with Bond connections.

One of the three got pranged, but not badly.

During filming the Aston Martin collided with the Ferrari, but they managed to completely repair it overnight. About Jeremy Clarkson owning the DB5, I think (although I can't remember 100%) he once said that it wasn't true, but then there was another rumour that he actually drove the car in the film, that was completely untrue.

Info and chassis numbers for the 3 cars at http://www.astonmartins.com/db4_5_6_s/db5_007_goldeneye.htm - "one in perfect condition for close up and interior shots (DB5/2175/R), and two more 'stunt cars' for the driving sequences in the hills above Monte Carlo (DB5/1484/R and DB5/1885/R). The stunt cars were purchased in relatively poor shape prior to filming and underwent a very quick restoration at the main AM dealer, Stratton Motor Company, Norwich, just for the film." 1484R reappears in Skyfall - /vehicle_488521-Aston-Martin-DB5-1484R-1964.html.

Looks as if plain glass here, but the DB5 in /vehicle_555312-Jaguar-XJ-X300-1995.html has tints. I haven't pinned down any definite contradictions between the various Bond DB5s in this film or other sightings of "this" car, but areas which might expose differences are mirrors (number, position, and style), sidelights (white or orange) and plate fonts (this more linear style is more 70s/80s than mid-60s). And main does not seem to have the small badge low down behind front wheel arch, but it's there in the thumbs with Ferrari and the Jag X300 photo.

Why Ferarri F355 and Aston martin DB5 they are mixed with Left Hand drive and right hand drive from Japan during car chase scene?

Gag Halfrunt UK

The DB5 is right hand drive because it's from Britain. We drive on the left hand side of the road.

@rockstarnorth225: in Japan you can choose, especially at imported cars, if you want to have a right hand drive car or a left hand drive car. Although Japan has traffic on the left side, it's not a mandatory must, to have the steering wheel on the right side.
There are a few countries in the world, where they have such laws (IIRC in Australia and New Zealand for left-traffic-countries, about right-traffic-countries I'm not sure. Maybe someone can help with detailed informations). There you have to change also at used import cars the steering wheel to the mandatory side.

Mostly it's up to the car-owner, if he wants to have a car with the steering wheel on the "wrong" side. So do I. Here in Germany we have, as everywhere in Continental Europe (except Gibraltar), right traffic, so the cars have the steering wheel on the left - but I own a UK-spec Vauxhall Vectra MkII, so a car with the steering wheel on the right side. Here you can see just rarely RHD-cars, but they exist. Mainly classic British cars, but sometimes (used imported) Japanese sports cars, which were never built as left hand drive versions, for example the strongest Subaru Impreza or the Nissan Skyline.

We have a British IMCDb-member, twingoman, who own a Renault Twingo with the steering wheel on the left side. Because Renault never made a right hand drive version of it.

There is a problem here. The Dezer car is not 2175/R, but 2187/R - and it is the vehicle presently wearing JBZ6007 platesn.

A Google search for DB5/2187/R notes that the late Roger Stowers - of the Aston Martin Heritage Trust - was archived as having spotted this car with BMT 214A plates. The spotters listing also calls out 1985/R and 1484/R as two other BMT 214A cars.

While I can see 1985/R as a typo for 1885/R (seeing as 1885/R is CONFIRMED), I cannot see the same for 2187/R - especially since I just saw the car in person and can attest to that chassis number. More on it later soon as I can cross-reference this, but I'm starting to believe that Aston-Martins.com is incorrect, and that 2175/R may not have anything to do with the film (either that, or there were four cars). Fact is, 2187/R was spotted and documented as a Goldeneye car (with Goldeneye BMT 214A plates) by one of the premiere Aston historical researchers. That's very strong proof that the film cars are 2187/R, 1885/R, and 1484/R.

1885/R is the only car of the three with the teardrop headlamp bezels seen in the chase, so it's safe to say that the car in the main image is 1885/R.

2187/R is the car seen driving up to the casino.

1484/R is the very rough DB5 seen in the following publicity photos with Brosnan. I have not been able to pick it out in the film. Note the ill-fitting grille and damaged fender:

Hi, I owned 1484/R back in 1970 when it was in its original colour and excellent condition . Had a lot of fun with it, amazed to trace it through your site that it was actually used in Goldeneye & Skyfall . Pictures taken at Shoreham Airport. What are "teardrop headlamp bezels"?

Can you get a clear image of a DB5 without them for comparison and an upclose image of teardrops?

Very beautyful car ... I would wish to buy it ... I saw that in Quantum of Solance and in Casino Royale they used a DBS as Bond`s car ... that`s a big loss for him , but I appreciate that in Skyfall and Spectre they used it again ... YEEEEEEAAAAAHHHH

Of course. The following DB5 has the teardrop at the bottom of the bezel with the single screw, like 1885/R:

While this one - which so happens to be 2187/R from Goldeneye - has four screws countersunk into a split-ring bezel:

[1885/R] .. "the very model used by Pierce Brosnan in 1995’s Goldeneye" will auctioned at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, 13 July 2018, expected price £1.2m.

[Image: astonmartindb51885rgoldeneyebonhams.jpg]
... with visible tear-drops.

"Goldeneye opened with Brosnan flinging the DB5 around the hills above Monte Carlo, in an effort to escape from the chasing Ferrari F355 of Xenia Onatopp. Three DB5s were used for filming Goldeneye, with DB5/1885/R piloted by Brosnan in the mountainside duel. It was one of two DB5s purchased especially for the film to be used for the racing sequences. Both were comprehensively restored and prepared ahead of production by Stratton Motor Company. After Brosnan handed back the keys, the DB5 was cleaned up and used for promotional purposes – first to generate publicity for the film, and then by Aston Martin to drive sales of its DB7. It also took part in motor shows in both Detroit and Los Angeles, where it was driven on to its stands by Sir Stirling Moss. It then returned to Britain for a Christie’s sale in 2001 of some 250 pieces of Bond memorabilia and sold for £157,750; this was recorded in the Guinness Book of Records as the most expensive item of Bond memorabilia ever sold, although that figure has since been passed a couple of times, not least by the Goldfinger DB5, which went for $4.1m in 2010. 1885/R has since been exhibited at Beaulieu’s Bond exhibition, The London Film Museum, The National Motor Museum and, more recently, the ‘Bond in Motion’ exhibition in Covent Garden." - from here.
