It could be a Morris-Commercial LC5 (1953-60) with special ambulance or bus body.

Have a look here:

Looks typically Bedford J5 to me with a bus body.

The bonnet and wing shape plus the indicator lights on the top of the front wings, (the rear mirror is on the A pillar). I think RAF may have used these types of vehicles.

Not exactly the same as in 'The Avengers' but this is what I think it could look like.

To be honest, Sunbar, I am not convinced. Quite a few detail on the wing panels do not match.

The size and the position of the 'indicator' light was bothering me also - it looks to have a base where it attached to the wing so I thought it must be an earlier design ......

Bedford A type RAF transport bus......

The 'Thunderball' bus has the indicator and side-lights mounted on the wing, 'The Avengers' is the side-light only.

Cab and side windows are identical and no flared lip on the wheelarch. :)

Another A-type this time a Royal Navy truck, with the same 'side-light only configuration'. http://ccmv.fotopic.net/p27758294.html

It would be an earlier design to when the 'lolly-pop' indicators were added. It also has the same panel join in the front wing as shown on The Avengers pictures.

I now remember seeing these RAF buses often in the 1960s. They look to me to be more familiar than the Bedford SB transport bus so must have been used on the local RAF bases for some time.

:D

These Bedford A-types must have been in use for some time after the introduction of the J-type. I had just assumed what I had remembered was the later model. It was only the base of the side-lights that gave me the clue, these date from 1955 onwards.

Strange (and a pity) that I could find no example in preservation on the internet. Later checking IMCDb for the A-type I got lucky with the only picture I could find, which turned-out to be from 'Thunderball'.
