Was this model locally built somewhere in South America? Certainly. The Fuego was built for a long time in Argentina. The European production ended in 1986, but continued in Argentina until 1992, with the updated version GTA Max.

Cured me of buying French cars that did. My Fuego Turbo is 27 years old, but has no rust problems. It had only few rust at the bottom of the A-pillar, but I solved that problem in 2006 when I restored my Fuego.
