tonkatracker ◊ 2011-06-29 21:07	@antp I am not sure about the rest of the world but in cars sold here in the US the first digit of the VIN tells the country it was built. 1,4,5 =US Built 2= Canada 3= Mexico J= Japan
antp ◊ 2011-06-30 17:21	Indeed you are right, it starts with the country. First three characters indicate country+maker actually, so a make with several assembly sites will get different codes depending on the country.
