This vehicle was owned by The studio when The Movie was made. It was subsequently Purchased by a Mr. Profet (sp?) of Santa Barbara. In 1955 or 56, if memory serves, he traded it to my employer A J Hoe of Weston, Conn., for two restored Duesenbergs. My girl friend and I drove it from Weston to Hartford for a car show and back, after a cleanup from the trip from Califórnia. It was quite a thrill! |

This should be the one: http://duesey186.com/Datasheets/Model_J_Index/frm2374.htm "I've always been intrigued by 2374, which appeared in "Giant" alongside the ex-Joe Penner Isotta Fraschini and Tom Mix's Rolls-Royce. It looks a lot like Murphy's Convertible TORPEDO Berline, including the molding along the tops of the doors, the way the leading edges of the front doors curve up into the cowl, and the slanted windshield. I think it lacks the built-in trunk of the Convertible Torpedo Berline, however, as from what I've seen of photos of 2374 its trunk has a fabric dust cover over it and appears to be removable."
