And they repainted it in the 1973 NYPD colors. As was discussed with the 1965 Plymouth Belvederes in the US version of "Life on Mars", you'd think a car of this age would be retired from the force by now. BTW, I recently saw a 1965 Chevrolet Biscayne painted up in the older NYPD colors at an NYPD yard in The Bronx somewhere along the Metro-North Harlem Line. -- Last edit: 2011-04-25 17:42:29 |

Generally speaking, ten year old cars may not be too common, but they do exist in many large police departments. Some just haven't reached the cut-off mileage, have been relegated to support roles, etc. That's especially the case with specialized vehicles such as SUVs and, in this case, station wagons, which usually aren't run as hard as the regular sedans. But anyhow, it's not uncommon for productions to use much older police vehicles as they are cheaper to acquire and more readily available. |
