1977-1978 model, rounded-line Chevrolet Suburban Custom Deluxe four-wheel drive, three quarter-ton. It has the "old style" fuel filler cap, which doubled as the fuel door. The fueling system was redesigned for 1979, and gained a true fuel cap door. Also the grille trim does not incase the front clear lens park/turn indicator lamps. If it has, and likely it does, the Turbo Hydra-Matic (hydraulically shifted automatic) transmission, you are looking at a permanent full-time four-wheel drive Suburban. Permanent full-time four-wheel drive K-Series pickup, Suburban and Blazer/Jimmy featured a third "interaxle" (center) differential which could be fully locked in either high or low range gearing. -- Last edit: 2017-06-16 17:04:55 (antp) |

The 1979 energy crisis brought full-time four-wheel drive to an end; it was discontinued for the 1980 model year. |
