We've identified this vehicle using the details you provided MORRIS OTHER 1953 Registration number: PYB 906 Body type: Flat Lorry Colour: Red And Black Date of first registration: July 1953 PYB series was issued Somerset May-July 53, so not a retro-plate. Described as 1953 LC4R here and here which throws in some scrambled supplementary info and dating in this text: "1953 Morris-Commercial LC4 "TGC 220" (PYB 906). Ficticious reg TGC 220 was used in the TV series Heartbeat. Taken at the Gateshead Metro Centre in the late 1980s. (Tom Gormley) Last comment by j tebbutt on 10-Mar-14 20:38: This LC5 has the correct registration number as it is an ex Post Office Telephone Engineering vehicle (later to become British Telecom) and is of 1956 vintage. On the fleet they were know as Morris LC5 1ton Utility and according to records TGC220 was allocated fleet number U79839. Its rear bodywork would have consisted of a van type box fairly basic in shape for carrying the various equipment required for its daily work." However TGC 220 is not fictitious |

PYB906 & TGC220 are 2 different trucks, although both did appear in the show and I believe are with the same real life owner - I saw them both on display together at a vehicle rally a few years back (TGC220 has black front wings). TGC went off the road and PYB has been at rallies carrying TGC's reg plate in the windscreen which may be what led to the above confusion. |
