Interesting registration plate. Sweden changed the registration plate system somewhere between 1972 and (until) 1974 as it took time to manufacture that many plates. It then changed from a county letter followed by one up to five digits (e.g A 51 337) which was replaced by three letters followed by three digits (e.g ABC 123). However there were a few exceptions that had more than one letter in the beginning: - A, AA and AB meant the city of Stockholm. - AB meant the county of Stockholm. - AC meant the county of Västerbotten (southern part by the Gulf of Bottnia), in the north east, but not as far north as - BD meant the county of Norrbotten (northen part by the Gulf of Bottnia). - OA meant the county near Gothenburg. There were no other plates beginning with two letters, and especially not when concerning W which meant the county of Kopparberg (Copper mountain, reffering to the big copper mine in Falun, north-weat of Stockholm) which isn't especially densly populated. I live in that region. They have most likely replaced an A or a B with a W. Link http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%C3%A4nsbokstav . -- Last edit: 2015-05-01 17:56:36 |
