It's probably 1973+ 968 A.

There is one clear side diference beetwen 966 and 968.
The 966 has longer side "ears" providing cool air to engine bay.

Is it possible the ears shortened in 1974 or 1975?

There are also two with short ears in the 966 description...

Interesitng whether such mess was really possible... Maybe there were also cars with one long and one short. :p

Well, we should be cautious with correctness of internet photos. ;)

According to Avtolegendy SSSR magazine, the only difference was grill in 966 or its lack in 968 - while early 968s were made with long "ears" (there is no mention in text itself, but the photos' captions say 1973 for long-eared and 1974 for short-eared 968). And one can't tell, if it's 968 or 968A, because 968 was still produced for internal market until 1978!

Between 966 and 968? 968 had fake grill too...
There wasn't anything about 966 with body of 968 A? I'm curious could it be a real later 966 (like mentioned in link): /vehicle_146120-ZAZ-968-A-Zaporojetz-1975.html
Avtolegendy SSSR :P from Allegro?

>968 had fake grill too...

Did it really?... According to mentioned source, "more modern shape of body" (..bolee sovremennym oformleniem kuzova..) was main external difference from 966.

>There wasn't anything about 966 with body of 968 A?

No - production of 966 stopped in 1972, while 968A appeared in 1973 (basic 968 appeared in 1971 - I wonder, if they produced both "grilled" 966 and grille-less 968 in 1971-72).

>I'm curious could it be a real later 966

I'd keep 968 (maybe without "A", because there seems no external basis to tell apart 968 and 968A). Short-eared 966 must be some rare exception...

>Avtolegendy SSSR :P from Allegro?

No, from Rapidshare ;-)
I could send you some, if you want.

This ilustration from "Młody Technik" 11/1973 shows early 968 for Polish market. With fake grill and short ears.

The article claimed will be 3100 new ZAZ 968 imported to Poland in 1973 (since May) and many details about differences between 966 and 968.

I know this article. The rear retroreflectors are debatable. There are cars with reverse lights, but without "retros".

Ingo, I already send you link to K70 article from the same site, which Rapid linked - it had only German promo pics.

@Rapid. But interesting thing is this ZAZ lettering at the front, Podbielski is mentioning - that 968 didn't have it. But again there are different lenght of ears on cars without it...

Edit: Nah not so interesting - older cars didn't have sometimes lettering as well - /vehicle.php?id=198769 (no bigger indicators).
