AFAIK the safe shown in the thumbnail wasn't a Rootes accessory :)

Wouldn't be much good if the car was stolen or in a crash!

Haha, good & unusual hiding place for money or jewellery it's base thing.
I keep loose change in... candy tin. Nobody suppose it is worth 300 euros sometimes. :PPPPP

Or if the rust-protection is not perfect. A little bit time too long storage could cause problems. :)

Aaaah, @130Rapid, ... candy tin - the oldest and best known hiding place for jewelleries. :/ As the sugar-box, under the pillow, behind the socks or in the ice-box of the refridgegerator.

I'm working in the claim-department of an insurance and I must say, that at a burglary these places are controlled always and at first by the thieves.

My tip for gold- and jewellery-stuff: sell it at eBay. You will always get the minimum daily price. Nowadays the prices for gold, silver and jewels is really high, so you will earn some money.
My wife will have annother opinion, but for me the owning of jewellery is useless. Personally I never had a use for them, except holding it for selling later on, when you need money for real importan things (car, house, vacations...)

Yes, it is useless. My only jewellery piece is watch (not Rolex). :P

Candy tin is the most comfortable wallet for coins. :D

The funny thing is to see face of astonished saleswoman in supermarket after unsuccessful atempt to read barcode from my "wallet".

Do you already got the idea how to earn money with the candy tin? Just make a slit in the top, a sticker "For the Skoda" on the side and then take a seat in the pedestrian zone. :D

My wife says, that she felt ashamed, when I bought my actual watch. :/ I just wanted to have the same model again, I've been satisfied with since many years: a CASIO-digital-watch in black plastic. The lady in the shop rummaged a dusty box out of the bottom of the board, gave me a lopsided sneer and said "Ah, you prefer the ageless design". I've answered "Yes, the ageless CLASSIC design" and went out happily. :)
My wife rolled with her eyes. I told her later: "You don't think seriously, that at a watch I'm looking for anything else than for the function? Fashion nerves."

And we have similar watch habits. :D
I have one Seiko - good old iron, black face with silver hands - since 1990.

 Don't lough, but your candy tin has gave me a total crazy idea - an international IMCDB-flashmob! :king:

All the IMCDB-freaks around the world will make an own charity can, all with the sticker "For the Skoda" (or something like that, better something crazier or absurder), and then we arrange one exact point of time (despite the time zone, all at the same moment), when everyone will take a seat for 5 minutes, in his local pedestrian zone or the shopping center with this charity can. And someone else takes a photo of that.

Sorry folks, I cannot say, how and why I got that idea. It just came in my mind (I haven' drunk anything).

Your Seiko has a big advantage, compared with my Casio: http://www.spiegel.de/politik/ausland/0,1518,758901,00.html :wow: :wow: :wow:
I have even two of them...

Why for USA?

At a guess for the added lights and export plates?? And I don't think this was sold in W Germany to ordinary folk. Seems like a US-bound car which is temporarily in D?

But with plain bumpers?

dsl SX

Because the extra lights are where the overriders were normally fitted and use the same bumper mountings?? The lights are unusual - perhaps fog lights instead of normal driving/indicators  .

The plate is looking faked, too small and font looks not correct either. So better don't count on it. And yes, it was not officially sold here.
