Supposed to be a copy of the Carmichael Commando TACR2 6x4 designed primarily for airfield use. Most were taken out of service in the UK a few years ago when the rules changed so that all emergency vehicles had to be all wheel drive, however a few were converted to 6x6 and are still serving even though they are now over 20 years old. |

Venus, driven by Penny Morris. This vehicle is a Carmichael Commando, not a TACR2. All TACR2's have 4 doors. (TACR2's produce before 1981 had a coach built four door conversion, with sliding windows). The vertical slat grill, front indicator/sidelights without the black edges, black windscreen wiper arms, black bumper without end caps and lack of indicator repeaters on the wings, mean that Venus would have left the Solihull factory between June 1980 and August 1982 as a 'Fleet Line' model, which was then converted at Carmichael of Worcester. Which is historically accurate. -- Last edit: 2012-02-13 00:22:22 |

Seems the Range Rover isn’t the only six-wheel fire truck made by Land-Rover. |
