Because I like large freighters too, I decided to see what I could find out about the ship in the thumbnail, since the name Zephyrhills is clearly legible. From what I can find, the Zephyrhills was originally named Seven Pines (Hull #259) and was a T2-SE-A1 tanker built during World War II, one of 500 T2 tankers built during the war. It was constructed by Sun Shipbuilding & Drydock Company of Chester, Pennsylvania, and delivered August 9, 1943. The Seven Pines was sold to private owners in 1948 and renamed Charles S. Jenny. In 1957 it was renamed Katina and then again to Zephyrhills in 1959. The Zephyrhills was scrapped at Kaohsiung in Taiwan in 1969. The ship and the Lincoln together remind me of /vehicle_209531-Lincoln-MKS-D385-2009.html -- Last edit: 2010-11-22 00:25:24 |
