I'm fairly certain it's a Chevrolet, although that's about all I know.

Thriftmaster is the name of one of the engines of the Chevrolet trucks.

It's impossible from the front to know if it's one of the following 6 cylinders engines:

= Thrifmaster 235
= Loadmaster 235
= Jobmaster 261

So what name should we give to it, then?

Thriftmaster was also the name for 1947 and 1948 model years of the 3100 to 3800 light- and medium-duty models of the Advance-Design trucks line, as much as Loadmaster was the one for the 4100+ heavy-duty trucks.

If we assume that the same truck was used in "Part I" and Part II, then:

... all these views help to see that:
- it seems to have the 1951+ vent windows;
- it has the special "High rack" option;
But it could be a 4100/6100S/6100 (137" / 3.48 m wheelbase) as much as a 4400/6400S/6400 (161" / 4.09 m wb). Nothing helps to tell the difference.

Pretty beat up and rusty for a truck made only four years earlier.

The tunnel where this scene takes place in was also seen in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
