Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase): So, when did you get the tenement on wheels?
Cousin Eddie (Randy Quaid): Oh, that there? That's an RV. I borrowed it off a buddy of mine. He took the house, I took the RV. It's a good looking vehicle, ain't it?
Clark: Yeah. Looks so nice parked in the driveway.
Eddie: Yeah, it sure does. But don't you go falling in love with it now, because we're taking it with us when we leave here next month.
(Clark spits out his eggnog)

This is tough in the dark. I'm leaning towards a Barth, but don't confirm it. I may have to rent it sometime for myself.

I wonder if Condor II is the model or manufacturer?

Oh, it does quite a lot.

I'm not 100% sure which either, but I've seen Condor Motor Homes built on Ford chassis that used grilles from Ford N-Series trucks, which also closely resembled T-Series and H-Series trucks.

Here's a more recent Condor, from a dealership in Texas.

One day someone will get this! I think those new Condors are a different company that probably didn't exist when this sh*tbox was made.

I can't believe no one's identified this! I love to know what this is, it's such a memorably rotten vehicle. Clark Griswold calls it a tenement on wheels.

from the answer on RV forum : "...looks like a vintage Superior motorhome..."

wickey SK

2006-12-24 01:59

and another: :?

"Two thoughts on the Superior. In the picture, the windshield appears to slope foreward from the bottom to top. Also the window in the entry door is a rectangle. I used to have a '73 23 footer. The windshield sloped to the rear and the door had a round window. That seemed to hold true with the few others that I saw."

Isn't "II" the model ?

wickey SK

2006-12-28 01:32

could be "wickey, I finally read all of the threads on your site and reviewed the other pics. It is indeed a Condor II, manufactured by Condor back in those days. -Now I think they're made by R-Vision...."

So it should be refered as "Ford Condor" rather than just "Condor"?

The actual RV used in the movie. They list it as being a 1974.

In fact it was sold as Condor, not Ford Condor (from Ford was only a chassis and grill). The maker was Condor Motor Homes (later Condor Coach).

It is a Condor II built by Condor Motor Home in El Monte, CA. They started manufacturing 1961/62 on Ford chassis, and continued to use Ford. In 1975/76 they changed body design as to what the picture your looking at. They were a very well built coach and reasonable in price. I currently
know where a 76/77 model in Columbus, OH that is very much reasonable in condition exterior and interior. They closed up manufacturing in late 70's for
a couple reasons, economy being part of it. The Condor motorhome that is currently built is NOT a part of the manufacturer that built this motorhome.
