Humber or Hillman?

BL8041 is currently registered as a Ford van.

Apparently a 1937+ Humber Snipe, but something (not only the number-plate mounting) doesn't look right. Comments?

The car is either a Humber 16, 2 1/2 litre, or a Snipe, 3.2 litre, correctly identified as being post 1937 due to the single piece windscreen. The number plate should have been in the centre of the bumper laterally, and just below it vertically, hiding the bottom of the radiator shell. The wheels also look undersized but maybe that is because the Super Snipe, and the wartime specials had nuch wider wheels and tyres.

With the thirsty side valve engines and the sloppy transverse leaf front suspension not a car I would want to own.

A 1937 Humber Snipe then... if a choice is to be made.

I have to agree with chris40 that it looks rather odd to me. The size of the headlights look rather small unless the wartime covers are confusing things? Also the radiator grille looks to me to be a poor replica (or reconstruction) of the one shown here...

I've had another think about this one. Could it be a military Snipe that's been civilianised? The military Snipes had a mesh grille which seems, as Sunbar says, to have been crudely reconstructed. Also the wheels are too far inboard of the wings, which look like the wider ones fitted to clear the heavy-duty wheels of the MoD Snipe. Compare the wings on Sunbar's thumbnails.
