Hi, the big photo is a type 54,the small one of Stronghold is a type 35. The link of Bruno58 was taken at the Essen motor show. The reg.nr PM 55 was put on by its second owner ,Bugatti collector Peter Hampton It is ch.nr 54201 the first type 54,works car for Achille Varzi. First raced at Monza in 1931 , result 3 rd place. Later sold by the factory to Czech Prince Jiri Lobkowicz, who entered it for his first race with the car,the German GP in 1932 at the Avus track in Berlin. He killed himself in that race, his friend,Zdenek Pohl was given the 54 together with his 51, he kept the cars untill the 70 ties. The 51 was sold to the National museum in Prague (Still there) and the 54 to Peter Hampton. After his death it was auctioned and sold to Monaco collector Abba Kogan, who never used it . It has about 300 bhp ,top speed about 155 mph. Cables brakes, 3 speed gearbox. |
