Not Lada?

Name "Lada" is for export (outside Russia)

Chassis 112, not 2112?

But we have 112s in Russian films listed under the Lada name:

...

All Ladas and Vaz are from one factory - VAZ. In Russia this cars are VAZ, and outside Russia - most often Lada. Maybe we should list russian, par example, as VAZ 2112 [2112], and export version as VAZ Lada 112 [2112]. Two makes, VAZ and Lada, are nonsense. :)

USSR has system of chassis names. Each producer hase range of numbers for his owns models. 4 numbers for basic model, plus more numbers (1 or 2) for differences (like VAZ/Lada Samara - 2109 for 4-door hatchback, but 21099 for sedan, which was make from hatchback).

I hope this is simple. :D

But the Lada name is now used in Russia too:

Yes, new models, not connected with USSR, have rather name Lada (like Kalina or Priora), but older rather VAZ. Par example Niva on your site have badge VAZ 2131. :)

That does not explain why it has 112 instead of 2112 as chassis number :??:

Ah, I did that, I thought it came on the same list as Lada 112 when doing that.

Only if you search 112 without entering Lada :D So better use only the chassis code

Moment. :)
Car name is "VAZ 2112". 2112 is also a chassis number. Like in others VAZ's (VAZ 2105 has chassis 2105, etc). :)

I see that we are back to the old times when the same number is in the model name and chassis field - what for? ;)
It is a "Lada 112 [2112]". As you wrote cars not related to the USSR were/are Ladas, this one is from 2000. Since longer time cars are marketed also in Russia as Lada.
Not so big nonsense is having two makes, since they were marketed under two makes. In fact the naming system, which we have now reduced the number of makes from 3 to 2. The same model even if is listed under two different brands can be grouped in one place thanks to the model name/chassis code.
Nothing is perfect and my proposition perhaps also isn't, but finally, after long time, we somehow tidied up all these VAZ/Ladas. More info at the disscusion on the forum from the late 2008: http://forum.imcdb.org/forum_topic-704-Lada_vs__VAZ_Lada.html

But some Ladas filmed in Sweden are VAZ, some VAZ filmed in Russia are Lada, etc...

These are the "controlled" exceptions. For some reasons in the 1970's Sweden these cars were sold as VAZ and the name Lada was unknown there.

Not 2110?

You don't see clearly the wide third window?
