Nice best choice for someone in tommy lee's position in the movie, and you will always find a suburban in a fire dept, to bad they killed the sub it would have been fin through the movie. 1997-1999 2500 GMC 2500 Suburban SLT in Pewter color, PS: Love the tailgate and liftglass |

You know what I agree. it stinks that this truck melted just like it stinks that in twister, the tornado sucked up that dodge ram. |

They used a 1994 GMC suburban 1500 2WD(five lug nuts)on the scene where Mike Roark's suburban gets burned up. The 1994 dash is seen when the suburban is sinking in the lava. |

The suburban didn't melt.It just sank. Volcanic lava is 1800 degrees Fahrenheit. Steel melts at 2000 degrees Fahrenheit -- Last edit: 2007-08-11 08:35:41 |

since the 70's, there were GMC Suburbans. Then later in the 1990's (or was it 2000's) the GMC Yukon XL replaced the Suburban. How sad. |

is it true that the same suburban tommy used is the same one from the fire dept and the one that supposely burned was afiber glass model? |

6 WORDS: I DO NOT LIKE THIS MOVIE |

I love this Gmc Suburban. It looks heavy duty. Oh and Fish said that in every fire dept you find a Suburban, and i think its not true because down here in Miami, Fl the fire depts use the Ford F250 Super Duty. You never see Suburbans or other trucks. Every fire depts down here use Ford F250\'s. Its more common i guess. Well may be he\'s right. May be in other states they use Suburbans or other trucks. But i\'m just saying that i\'ve never seen Suburbans in fire depts. And of course its always common that the main vehicle that the main characters use always have to get damaged or destroyed. Just like the movie Twister. The main vehicle was the Dodge Ram 2500 Club Cab Slt. And like always it met an unhappy ending. So yea it always sucks that the best looking vehicles has to get destroyed. Lol |

Anybody know what they did to this Suburban for the lava scene on the set(and possible set footage and or pics), and what became of it after filming rapped? -- Last edit: 2012-01-14 06:51:22 |

What was that light on the dash? |
◊ 2012-01-25 14:51 |
^ Probably a small studio light using the cigarette lighter as power source to illuminate the characters |

And what was the brand of the siren with the lights |

Here's a plot for the Suburban's destruction: The lava touches the rear tires and they go flat and burn up. As the lava continued, the interior got so hot the leather upholstery melted like candle wax, the melting seats burst into flames when they were hot enough, all got reduced to their seat frames, all the plastic trim melted, the carpet set ablaze, the windows shattered from the intense heat. The lava finally reached the front tires and they go flat and burn up, now the Suburban is completely surrounded by lava. The lava slowly moves the now doomed Suburban, and then it sinks in the lava. -- Last edit: 2012-06-11 22:44:59 |

I`ve never seen lava being able to liquify a vehicle. Most pictures i`ve seen just kinda shows burned out shells and frames, but still recognizible as a car. Like this: http://www.mrietze.com/images/kongo07/IMG_0084.jpg -- Last edit: 2012-06-23 14:53:44 |

Yeah I agree, I have seen that photo before, and in real life, that Suburban's gas tank would have exploded instantly when coming in contact with volcanic lava, and all would have been reduced to a burned out shell. |

The Jeep was better. It was sucked up as well. |
