In the making of this movie they actually use Heavily Modified Escorts for a couple of the Anglias -- Last edit: 2008-04-11 16:52:03 |

The flying Ford Anglia has always been amazing me. One of the reasons is the fact that it has two-tone paint of the 1962-65 Anglia Super 123E, but the trunk is one off an Anglia DeLuxe. Assuming that the paintwork is original, and the trunk's not, maybe it should be listed as a 1962 Ford Anglia Super [123E]. |

An Anglia Super has chrome trim on the top and bottom edges of the side flash, and the front end of the side flash ends at a point; it also has wheel trim rims behind the hubcaps and a 1200 badge on the panel beside the rear number plate. The single chrome side trim on a deluxe has an upward link at its front end to the top of the headlight (as 2nd thumb). So this is a deluxe [105E] with a painted side flash and none of the Super features. 7990TD does not show on plate check sites, but was issued in Lancashire May - October 62. imdb says "The Weasley's car is a Ford Anglia... same colour and model that JK Rowling and her best friend from school used to ride around in when they were younger. She used the car for the book, and later the movie, out of her fond memories driving in it." Does this explain the plate as well, or is there a coded significance? |

1966 lookalike - different plate and has 1965/66 grille and separate minor lights. Also has wheel trim rings, unlike main photo and thumbs. A nice example, but unlikely to be a real film car unless they used a lot of them. |

An early Anglia with 1960-65 grille and minor lights. Has wheel trim rings, unlike main photo and thumbs. Could be a real film car if they used a lot of them. |
