The vehicle details for GLX 8 are:

Date of Liability 01 01 2009
Date of First Registration 11 03 1942
Year of Manufacture 1942
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 4410CC
Fuel Type Petrol
Vehicle Colour CREAM

Date of manufacture is strange during war-time.

Engine size would suggest Lincoln engine V12 4.4 litres, rather than Nash 4.25 litre unit, although if the reports are correct possibly only one was made and that was left hand drive. edit: Other sources suggest there were four Lincoln engined V12 4.4 litre cars produced.

Unfortunately this is not an H type at all, but an S type with a 3.6 litre V8 engine, so none of the notes above apply.

Perhaps note note above was a little terse.

Notwithstanding the DVLA's records, the car was built around 1938 but not registered until 1942. The engine size is incorrect unless it has been re-bored (which I don't think it has), and should be a 3.6 litre V8. There was indeed only one V12 engined Jensen which was left hand drive and a drophead, whereas this car has the more sporty tourer body.

It is thus NOT an H type and the indexing for this picture should be changed to S type, please. However, Jensen didn't use that terminology at the time, so the correct title should really be "3 1/2 litre".

The same car featured in "Q Planes", "Hue and Cry" and probably other Ealing films of the era.

Thanks for your information MikeW...

Still an interesting Jenson I think, as most that are listed here on IMCDb are more modern (post WWII) examples. :)

Two more movies to look out for also, 'Q planes' and 'Hue and Cry' (for which a partial listing exists on IMCDb).

Chassis #S41 - Link to "www.joc.org.uk" . MikeW above seems to be Mike Williams (JOC Early Cars Registrar).

I wonder what the longest gap is that we've got from a car's first film appearance until its most recent (excluding documentaries and museum cars). This one has to be 50+ years from /vehicle_195865-Jensen-31-2-Litre-S-type-S41-1938.html , probably longer if this ep date can be confirmed. Any rivals?
