I'm sure it'a a Daimler, but I don't know which modell? I'm from Bregenz, that's the city where they filmed a part of the new Bond-movie. This pictures plays in Bregenz too and I have a photo of the front of this Daimler. Definitely a Daimler - look at the fluting on that chrome! Doing a bit of digging seems to reveal that XJs of this generation were simply called 'Daimler V8', before the temporary demise of the Daimler brand. The Daimler Super V8 was a special for the Queen, and Daimler Super Eight is simply a Daimler version of the current-model XJ. A quick search on autotrader seems to confirm this aswell. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daimler_Motor_Company)...and scroll down to "Jaguar (Under Ford Ownership)" I have to add, just been to see Quantum of Solace and what a brilliant, brilliant film. Can't wait for the DVD release myself..:) |

Tp is spot on. It is a Daimler. It essentially a long-wheelbase, supercharged XJ8. The tail lights are wrong for the current X350 derived car so it is either the pre facelift version or the older X308. Edited to say: I asked a friend who confirmed it is a 308 (305 although based on the same car and similar in appearance had square fog lights under the bumper and he believes was not available as a long wheelbase. The 350 is a completely different new car) that means it was built between 1997(1998 model year) and 2003 in Castle Bromwich Birmingham and would have been badged as a Daimler Super V8. It seems unlike then parent company Ford, Jaguar didn’t make small alterations to the trim so the are no indications to narrow down the year of build but we can definitely say it is a Daimler Super V8 (308). -- Last edit: 2008-11-08 13:16:23 |

"I thought I read that this was a Daimler Double Six." Double six refers to the 6 litre V12 dropped in 97 and replaced with a V8 when the 305 Was replaced with the 308. We have already established it is a 308 not 305 so defiantly not a Double six. |

This is a 2000-02 model, not 1998. RPC was optional in late 1999, but became standard from September 2000. |

I got that scale model when I was considering buying an actual Super V8. It is indeed an X308 Daimler Super V8, with the specific Super V8 wheels. The car featured in the film is definitely a Daimler Super V8, which was the correct designation for the supercharged Daimler version of the X308. The model on offer is a right bodge job though, the front is almost right but the rear doors have a very pronounced curve at the top rear, whereas the X 308 has a distinct angle, so the model is more like the X358 Aluminium bodied successor. I own the Super V8 which was featured in the Ali G movie and wish there was an accurate model of that. |
