I'm pretty sure it's not a California, cause it has round headlamps. California came for '89 MY. It's more like a standard Transporter with a converted highroof made by "Polyroof" and interiour fittings might be made by Westfalia. http://www.polyroof.de/typo/index.php?id=75&tx_wtgallery_pi1[show]=123448124&cHash=26d1bc44af9315a064423894f91a085d http://www.biniwersi.de/images/bulli/elliott.jpg -- Last edit: 2012-06-05 10:49:20 |

Yes, the basis was a Transporter, as the side window was cutted later on. The original Camper were based on the Bus, Caravelle or Multivan, so always with side windows. Roof and interior may be made by Westfalia, but not necessarily. This stuff was offered by other companies, too. Usually for lower prices, as original Westfalia-stuff was always expensive. Recently there was an article in my classic car magazine about a guy, who had restored a "faked" Westfalia Helsinki, a late 70ies T2b. He said, that he bought this nearly close copy as new, because it was much cheaper than the original. The quality was a bit lower, but he saved a lot of money anyways. |
